SEO recovery for an outdoor wood-care content site
A specialty content site in outdoor wood care and home improvement lost authority in the March 2026 Google core update. The recovery work was technical cleanup, comparison and FAQ content written so an answer engine can cite it, and authority shared across three related properties. After that, 1,010 keywords ranked in position 1, 32 more entered page 1, and citations started appearing in Gemini, ChatGPT, and Google AI Mode.
The problem
The site was a content property, not a store. The core update eroded authority. Rankings were moving the wrong way, and the technical base had thousands of open issues, so new articles would have been published on a site Google was already discounting.
What Carazo did
- A full schema audit and correction. 1,790 of 3,040 technical issues were resolved.
- FAQ and comparison pages built for the questions people ask, and for the passages an AI answer can quote.
- A three-property ecosystem, so related sites could support the main property instead of competing with it.
What the rankings showed
- 1,010 keywords ranking in position 1.
- In month 2 of the recovery, rising keywords outnumbered falling keywords 4 to 1.
- 32 keywords newly entered page 1.
- Citation presence began across Gemini, ChatGPT, and Google AI Mode. Positive sentiment on those mentions was reported between 58% and 71%.
These are observations from that recovery window. They are not a forecast for the next core update, and they do not name the site. The same limits are on the SEO starting guide and the AI citation guide: the method is public, the client is not.
